  • Dark Matter19'

    A trace of regularly ordered mounds of earth. In the twilight a dump truck is being loaded. A thick veil of mist hangs over the tops of the trees. Dark earth is excavated, loaded and transported off the scenery. In “Dark Matter” (2020), via the situative arrangement of different picture elements a visual friction surface is created, which is shaped by the figurations of a post-apocalyptic landscape. The images are determined by the processes of extracting raw materials. Without the mineral resources from the numerous diamond and gold mines in the so-called Russian Federation subject Yakutia, the Soviet Union would never have been able to exist until the 1990s.

    “How to Disappear” is an anti-war movie in the true sense of the word, searching for possibilities for peace in the most unlikely place of an online war game. It’s a tribute to disobedience and desertion - in both digital and physical-real warfare. Shot in the picturesque war landscapes of “Battlefield V,” the hyperreal graphics become the backdrop for an essay-like narrative. The film revolves around the history of deserters - a part of human history, which has hardly been illuminated. Performances and creative interventions explore the scopes and limits of the audiovisual entertainment machine.

    Visual artist and media researcher. He studied Visual Art and Media Art and is currently writing his PhD in Practice in the field of Cultural Studies. His work has received several awards: the Vimeo Staff Pick Award, the “Best Austrian Film” award at the Vienna Shorts Film Festival, the Audience Award at the Shortwaves Film Festival in Poznan and at the AMaze Festival in Berlin.

    Cinematographer, born in Stargard, Poland. He moved to The United Kingdom in his twenties where he worked as a rickshaw cyclist and attended a post-graduate courses in Filmmaking at National Film and Television School, London Film School and Central Film School, among others. The first film he directed, “Labor,” won best debut award at Ann Arbor Polish Film Festival.

  • Raúl de la Fuente Calle

    Director, screenwriter and editor. His feature film “Another Day of Life” premiered in the Official Selection at Cannes and has received the EFA, Goya and Platinum awards for Best Animated Feature Film, and the Audience Award at Zinemaldia. His “Nömadak Tx” won 2nd place in the IDFA Top20, and the Best New Director award at the Guadalajara International Film Festival. His first documentary short “Minerita” received the Goya and was on the shortlist for the Oscars.

    An artist, illustrator and cultural anthropologist. Since 2017 he is vice chairman of the interdisciplinary art and culture space Forum Stadtpark. In 2018 he received the Vimeo Staff Pick Award, the award for the “Best Austrian Film”, at Vienna Short Film Festival, the Audience Award at the Short Waves Festival in Poznan and the Explorer Award at the A MAZE Berlin, amongst others.

  • Polina Gumiela

    Bulgarian-Polish artist born in Plovdiv, Bulgaria in 1981. She emigrated to Berlin in 2000. Her first interest belonged to photography which she started at highschool and brought her some acknowledgement before giving it up for filmmaking finding it more fulfilling. She has studied American Studies at the Free University Berlin and is a graduate in film directing from the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (DFFB).
    She commonly films, directs and edits her films herself, focusing on intimate portraits and day-to-day matters. “Blue Eyes and Colorful My Dress” is her second feature-length documentary.
